Description
The scale gorget on the pictures is sold separately from the helmet.
Bascinet “Lorenzo” – is a reconstruction of the most widespread European helmet. Such helmets were most oftenly used in the medieval Italy. The “hundsgugel” (“hound’s hood”) visor did a really good job resisting frontal spearing, it also provided secure protection of the face against arrows all thanks to a pointy visor. There is the theory that the knight would put the visor down while defending himself from arrows or while attacking on the horse. But when it came to close fight he would put the visor up. Probably that is the reason there are no locking system which prevent unwanted visor rising on the original.
There is an option to make the bascinet one-piece forged. It would cost a little more as it takes more time.
Also please pay attention that the medieval bascinet was not equipped with chin straps. Also all of these helmets have vervelles for attaching an aventail. So if you make a rconstruction you should add a chainmail to the helmet.
