Part of our armor elements are also suitable for HEMA. But in the future we plan to develop specially for this discipline mittens, elbows, knees, etc. This direction of fencing is based on medieval fencing books (training books) and special very flexible and light swords are used here.

In fighting stylization, we first of all provide protection and convenience. When developing such armor, we combine the existing elements and parts of the medieval armor existing separately, but in close regions and time frames.

In historical reconstruction, we try to maximally repeat the geometry of the example artifact. The difficulty is that often both the example and the artifact are located far from us. Therefore, such work requires considerable skill.

Description

This is historic stylization for full-contact medieval fight, based on the plate arm protection from Churburg. Pay attention that the bracers do not have loops. It makes the product less expensive and more importantly, even if the strap on the bracer gets cut down, protection will stay on the arm.

This plate armor is our workshop’s development. We created it based on medieval ones adding some our solutions. But introducing our elements we stand by the main rule – in medieval times these innovations would be appropriate and could be produced.

Plate arm harness has pretty standard assembly. On the movable rivets the “transition” parts are attached to the elbow. Bracers and biceps are attached on these parts. On the edge of the biceps and on the inside of the elbow there’s forge-rolling. In general, shape of the bracers repeats the shape of the person’s forearm. Not exactly, as the hand needs to move and the muscles enlarge while strained. That is why we adjust the harness more loosely to the body.

For the full arm protection you should wear shoulders. You can use plate shoulders “Tristan” or others with the same principle. With such protection you can withstand load of hits and don’t get traumatized. The main thing to remember is that the harness does not provide 100% protection. Try to block the hits with shield or weapon, choose the right stand and avoid hits in the inner part of elbow.

If you are interested in sports aspect of this hobby, such plate arm protection will work for you perfectly. But if you are reenactor to the core of your soul, pay more attention to the plate arm harness “Churburg”.
